Above all, we need foster
homes for our cats and kittens. You can tell us what you would enjoy
keeping
in your home until adopted - kittens, a mom and litter, an adult,
etc. You would provide a loving temporary home until adoption takes
place, bring your foster kitty to adoption events and take to medical
appointments (FuRR will provide all medical care). Potential foster
families will fill out an adoption application and be approved
for adoption as a requirement for fostering.
Do you want to foster
nursing kittens? This is not for the faint of heart. It requires dedication
and feeding around the clock. These sweet babies need us so much.
We need volunteers to attend
adoption events and help show the cats and kittens to potential
adopters. This involves talking with people to determine the kind
of home they would provide, knowing our cats and kittens and finding
an adopter who is a good match. It also involves taking applications
for adoptions.
We need volunteers to follow
up with adoptive families to check on the adopted cat or kitten
and determine that the adoption is a successful one, with the cat
or kitten settling into the new home successfully. If there are
any problems with adjustment, we want to know that and work with
the family to solve them. Follow-up also includes insuring that
the cat/kitten has been altered as scheduled and that the provisions
of the adoption contract are being met. Follow-up will be conducted
both by phone and email.
Transporting
cats to the spay/neuter clinics is a vital service we provide
for those who are unable to get their cats to surgery. The volunteer
will transport the cat in a safe carrier to the clinic location
and return the cat to its home after it is awake and recovering.
The requirements are simple: an enclosed vehicle with heating/air
conditioning, insurance and a valid drivers license. We provide
the carriers.
If you have experience writing
grants, then we can use your talents. This is an untapped resource
for us and we need your help.
Please call 501-661-0956 (local
to Little Rock) to volunteer.
